Hello. I'm Watanabe Ten. This time, I'd like to talk about the topic of science, which is not good at making analogies or finding common ground. When I say science, I don't mean all academic disciplines. There are many academic disciplines, from the art of ruling to the art of living in society.
For me, the most important academic field is economics. Economics is a field of study related to money, but if used well, it is almost always a meaningful field when starting a business or making an investment.
In addition to its significance, economics is both a science and a humanities subject. It is a science in the sense that it uses mathematical formulas, but it is also a humanities subject in the sense that it does not end with proving mathematical formulas in writing. In other words, if you study economics first, it will be an entry point into both the science and the humanities.
I don't think that economics is a discipline for making money. Of course, economics provides the minimum knowledge necessary to make money, but more than that, economics provides many ideas as a philosophy.
You've probably heard of conservatives and progressives, or right-wing and left-wing. Political news is full of articles about topics that divide the right and left. I call myself more of a center-left because I value being progressive. Even more so, right-wing conservatives are important.
Right-wing conservatism refers to the foundations built by our predecessors, such as tradition and culture. If society is comfortable today, it is because of the foundations built by our predecessors. However, society will never improve based on right-wing conservatism alone.
In economics, there is a concept called Pareto optimum. Its definition means that no one loses and everyone gains. I believe that both the right and the left are important, and that 80% should remain conservative and 20% should be innovative and new.
However, some people may not be able to accept this new, innovative reality. Of course, innovations are still in the experimental stage, so we need to judge whether they are correct in the long run. What's more, there is a risk that the elderly and the elderly may be left behind in the new reality.
When science and learning advances rapidly, some people are left behind. This is because science can change dramatically with just a little ingenuity. At the very least, science can create not only a new culture but even a new civilization by simply drawing commonalities and analogies.
Find commonalities and make inferences. With this little ingenuity, science and academia can create a new civilization. That's all I have to say. That's all. Thank you for listening. This was Watanabe Ten.
